What do cross-country road trips, wedding speeches, and social media marketing have in common? How to Stalk Your Competitors in Social Media (So You Can Crush Them)

Alright, I   think   marketers have jumped on the social media gravy train.   eMarketer   reported on a study from the Association of National Advertisers showing the growth of social media adoption by US marketers since 2007.   When asked back in '07 how many of them were using social media in their marketing, only 20% of marketers raised their hand.   Fast forward to today, and a whopping   90% of US marketers claimed social media as part of their marketing strategy in 2012. That means the medium's over-saturated, and if your social presence isn't awesome now any effort you put in will be too little, too late. Wait, no, that's decidedly  not  what it means. Just because these marketers are on social media doesn't mean they're using it well. I know Woody Allen said 80% of success is just showing up, but if everyone's already nailed the showing up part, it's no longer much of a differentiator. Now marketers using social media have to actually, well,  u

The Best Time to Post on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, & Pinterest

Social media is one of the best ways to amplify your brand and the great content you’re creating. But it isn’t enough to just post content to social whenever you feel like it. Some times are better than others. So, what are the best hours to post on each social media channel? Unfortunately, there's no perfect answer. People browse each social network differently, and businesses may find different days and times work best for them. For example, while Twitter sees tweets perform well at hours like 6 p.m., Pinterest sees certain posts perform well as late at 2 a.m.. These aren't your only (or best) times, though. Good post timing depends on the platform you're using, as well as on how your target audience interacts with that platform, the regions and corresponding time zones you're targeting, and your marketing goals (e.g., clickthroughs versus shares). Is your reluctance based on fear?

In my experience discussing these ideas with hundreds of people, I’ve come to believe an obsession in only what your industry does is often a sign of fear - a reluctance to try something different. We all face fear in our professional and personal lives. Fear of the strange, of the new, of the untested. We fear bucking the trend and going against the accepted. It's a natural human response. There are many manifestations of fear: Fear of looking silly. Fear that if you put yourself out there, that people will say negative things about you. Fear that if you don’t have an MBA or whatever degree is deemed important to the gatekeepers in your world, you don’t have the qualification to act. Fear that makes you sell your products and services in the way that you’ve always done (like cold calling). Fear that giving away your best content for free won’t benefit you. Fear that competition knows more than you do, resulting in you copying their moves. Fear that something won’t work in your i

Digital Advertising Strategy in 2020

There’s a lot that falls under digital advertising: design, audience targeting, optimizations, analysis, and more. Organic content channels are flooded and not reaching as many people as before, so paid advertising is an effective way to get your content to the top of people’s feeds (and their minds). But the variety and breadth of the topic can make it hard to master and intimidating to test. In our latest HubSpot Research survey, we asked marketers "What percentage of your overall marketing budget are you spending on advertising?" What Percentage of Your Budget is Used on Advertising? 0% <5% 5-15% 15-25% 25-50% >50% 0 0 5 10 15 20 25 30 If your company plans to invest in paid media, take the time to evaluate digital advertising trends and analyze data from your past campaigns to figure out how you can most effectively invest your ad dollars. Social Media Marketing Strategy in 2020

If social media trends from 2019 taught us anything, it’s that personalized content is key for success. We also saw brands starting to listen more closely to their audience. I only expect this to intensify in 2020 with the world moving towards tighter data regulations and higher expectations from people for the content they consume. The world is numb to generic social media broadcasts.  On top of that, there are more social media channels than ever before, but the main three still lead the pack in regards to return on investment. In the most recent HubSpot Research survey, marketers reported that Facebook provides the biggest return on investment.
